For close to 100 years, motorcycles and cars were all dependant on a very inefficient and environmentally nasty source of electrical power: the lead acid battery. What’s surprising though, is most car and motorcycle manufacturers still use lead acid batteries. There has been a huge lag in new technology for this specific need. This may be soon to change, as one inventor has invented something truly exciting in the motorcycle industry: The lithium ion polymer motorcycle battery.

Funnyman Tim Allen is begging the motorcycle experts who trained him to ride a Harley Davidson for new film Wild Hogs to teach him how to crash - because he doesn’t want to risk injury now he’s hooked on motorcycle. Tim Allen’s brother lost his leg when he was 16 and the actor was forbidden from getting close to a bike.
When he got the chance to learn all about Harleys for "Wild Hogs," the star became hooked and he now wants to become the best biker - on and off the motorcycle. (...)

Not everyone who goes to Bike Week in Daytona Beach owns a hog. Some steal them, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Historically, the popular motorcycle event is preceded by a bump statewide in motorcycle thefts, according to sheriff’s Deputy Angelo Vaughn.
According to the Auto Theft Unit in Lee County, such an increase has been seen in recent weeks. The Daytona Beach event this year starts today and continues through March 11. Sport bike and Metric owners (...)

With the release of the new film “Wild Hogs,” the Motorcycle Safety Foundation has an important message for all riders: Complete a training course. The MSF is reminding all riders that despite what they might see on the big screen, for their own safety, as well as the safety of others, they need to take motorcycling seriously.

Fitch Ratings said yesterday that the strike that will impact a month of production at a Harley Davidson (HOG) plant has no impact on the company’s rating or outlook based on the company’s ability to generate strong free cash flow in 2007 and the relatively modest cost of the strike.
Fitch rates Harley-Davidson’s IDR ’AA-’ and Harley-Davidson Funding Corporation short-term IDR ’F1+’. Both companies are on Stable Outlook.
