A bill to require helmets for children riding motorcycles was sent back to committee on a voice vote today after a two-hour fight in the state Senate.
The Senate had been expected to cast its first official vote on the House Bill 1117, but in an unexpected move a handful of Democrats joined Republicans to stall the controversial measure.
Republicans railed against the measure, saying it expands the slow erosion of parental rights and freedoms to decide what’s best for their children. (...)

A while back the company expanded the business, which now includes close to everything concerning enthusiatic vehicles.

In an interesting departure from tradition, an automotive company is about to become a big name sponsor of a motorcycle race team. The Yamaha Factory Team which has been associated with tobacco sponsorship for the last few years, will be called the Fiat Yamaha Team for the next two years. For the next two MotoGP World Championships, Fiat Automobiles SpA will be the new Title Sponsor of Yamaha, which, starting from this season,. Triumph is showcasing the impressive 2007 line-up in Scotland this weekend (10-11 March) at the MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show held at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh.

The Motorcycle Action Group welcomes the Government’s Traffic Advisory Leaflet in which it expresses support for facilitating motorcycling as a choice of travel within a safe and sustainable transport framework.
The document lists all the positive points that MAG has repeatedly made about the advantages of motorcycling to society in general and now revises former guidance that was biased against the principle of access to bus lanes by motorcyclists.

A Jay Leno autographed Harley Davidson motorcycle will be raffled off at the Patricia A. Parete Fundraiser on March 31.
The money raised will go to Buffalo Police officer Patty Parete who was shot in the line of duty.
Parete was shot December 5th, along with her partner Officer Carl Andolina, when they responded to a routine call in downtown Buffalo.
Parete is currently in a rehab facility in New Jersey. Her family and friends say she is doing well.

A custom motorcycle builder may reopen a downtown Concord shop after winning a television show contest.
Custom motorcycle builder Greg Westbury won Thursday’s "Biker Build-Off," a TLC television show in which bike builders get two weeks to create a one-of-a-kind motorcycle, from the ground up.
Westbury says now he’s thinking about setting up shop in downtown Concord again, after closing his doors there in 2003 to operate Westbury Handcrafted Motorcycles Inc. from a 10-car (...)

Buell Motorcycle Company, the innovative sports motorcycle arm of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, announced to its dealers that it will produce and sell a liquid-cooled, 450cc four-stroke motocross motorcycle by 2009 – although an MXi source says that he would not be surprised if the motorcycle arrives sooner than that.
