The benefits of wearing a helmet

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Protection is primordial when riding so there can never be enough training videos related to this subject. This one is pretty good as it comes as a refresh of information that we gathered from many different sources or from our own experience. Their advice, “Get your head into it”, and the list of benefits following afterwards may not determine a rebel to turn over a half face helmet, but new riders have a lot to learn from (...)

2009 Ducati 1098 Engine

It is now confirmed. Ducati will present an all-new naked model featuring the engine on the 1098 at the EICMA show this November. The 2009 Ducati Fighter has already been presented last week to authorized dealers under a strict confidentiality regime and despite all previous controversy, it is now a fact that its price will hire it just between next year's Monster 1100 and the Ducati 1098 models. A future fierce competitor for the MV Agusta Brutale, Aprilia Tuono and the Benelli TNT, the (...)

Yamaha?s R1 missed career

Yamaha’s R1 missed career

We know that stunt man often apply artificial buffs rather than paint on their previously asphalt polished motorcycles, but we also have a hunch that this is not the case as this dressed up Yamaha R1 features the original mirrors, headlights, etc, leaving us wondering: why would anybody do that? Well…there is more than one possibility. For example, this can be an interesting super sized mechanical friend for your Dalmatian dog or a hard thing to ride on when willing to get the heard into the (...)

Patent Search: Motorcycle envelope

Motorcycle Postalk Envelope?

Back to the grind of searching in the massive archives of the Google Patent Search, we stumbled upon this little item: a postal envelope in the shape of a motorcycle. Scott Master filed the claim last year, and was awarded the patent last June. The idea is interesting to say the least, but several problems spring to mind. First of all, there's not much space to put something in the envelope. Something like a letter, unless the envelope is enormous. Secondly, when the envelope hits the (...)

2006 Yamaha R6 Limited Edition FIAT

Monday, September 29th, 2008

2006 Yamaha R6. This bike started life as a Raven. I purchased from a guy that had dropped it on the left. I took that opportunity to install a body kit I purchased last year. This is the highlight of this bike. It is one of the Yamaha Limited Edition Moto GP Fiat kits. This kit retailed for about 2600. Yamaha only produced 220 of these kits and there are no more left. This is not a repaint or someone's idea of a sticker kit. This body kit comes from Yamaha ready to install and is their replica of the Moto GP race bikes. The tank has a sticker on it showing it is number 058 of 220. It has 9441 miles as of today. I may ride it to work this week. The R6 has new Dunlop tires, new Vortex sprockets, new chain, Swing arm spools, GYTR Carbon slip-on, Rumble concepts fender eliminator, Dark smoke integrated tail light, Dark smoke flush mount front turn signals, Zero Gravity double bubble windscreen. I just changed the oil and filter using a genuine Yamaha oil filter and Repsol synthetic oil. The owners manual, tool kit and a service manual are included in the purchase price. Be like Valentino Rossi and ride the Fiat. The bodywork is new as it just came out of the box for this install. The rest of the bike shows normal wear for a bike with 9k miles on it. No signs of the drop remain. This motorcycle is sold as is, where is. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will help as much as I can, but will not make the arrangements. This is an opportunity to own a bike that VERY few people can say they've seen, let alone own. In reality you would be one of 220 people that can say they own one of these. I welcome any and all inspections. You won't be disappointed. I've tried to tell you everything I know about the bike. Please note that this is not one of the Chinese repaint kits on ebay, this kit is straight from Yamaha. Of course, I am open to offers.

1992 Honda NSR250SP NSR 250 SP NSR250

Monday, September 29th, 2008

1992 Honda NSR250SP. MC21. This is an original Rothaman's bike. Of course, the body work is aftermarket and has been painted. The tank is original to the bike and has never been painted. Frame and swingarm have been powdercoated, Tyga body work installed, Tyga rearsets, Tyga Exhaust, HRC delimiter box, HRC jet kit, Carbon Fibre reeds, HRC reed stuffers, CBR954 Front end with clipons and Carbon Fibre front fender, Tyga 300 big bore kit, Ohlins steering damper, New Michelin Power Race tires(rear has about 20 miles on it, front has about 6 laps on it). I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the idea. I purchased this bike a couple of years ago in a semi complete state. The original owner started this transformation, but never got to complete it due to an untimely death. I received the bike and started building. He had already had the bike painted, and installed the 954 front end. He had purchased the Tyga 300 kit, but didn't get it installed. The bike now has a non-SP motor in it. I have the original SP motor with dry clutch. The original owner had installed the HRC delimiter box and didn't know that it cut off the signal to the oil pump. So, he rode it and "blew" the motor. He had in mind the 300 kit and purchased a good running MC28 motor from Tyga when he purchased the 300 kit. The dry clutch can be installed on the motor in the bike, I just have not gone to the trouble. Or, the original SP motor can be rebuilt. As this bike is an SP, it has the Magtek wheels. The rear is on the bike, because of the 954 front end, the front wheel is in a box, freshly refinished. The original forks, upper clamp, lower clamp and stem are just a small example of the orignal and spare parts that go with the bike. I have extra carbs, wiring harness, air boxes, head light (maybe two) reed cages, a Fox shock from a 93 900RR, stock exhaust, extra Tyga silencers, the stock front fender, extra jetting, a few bottles of Castrol 747 oil, the list goes on and on. I can send pix of the spares to anyone interested. I've saved the best for last. This bike is properly titled and is ready to be blasted thru the Gap or out to the local bike night. Transfer the title and put a tag on it Of course, I reserve the right to end this auction early as I've listed it in a couple of place for sale. Please email me with any questions. Like I said earlier, I'm sure I'm forgetting something and a few questions would probably be beneficial to everyone. Of course, I am open to offers.
