The word is out that the Italians form Café Racers and Superbikes are undergoing a café racer project based on an approximately 2 liters big S&S X-Wedge engine. Kawasaki stands for green, just like Yamaha does for blue, Honda for red and Suzuki mostly for yellow, but that isn't enough for Mother Nature and the stricter CO2 emission norms in Europe are showing Kawasaki the way to green engines as well. So Kawasaki developed what they like to call their ‘ECO2Logic' technology and which is destined to those less than 100bhp bikes. Kawasaki starts producing the Versys Tourer after receiving positive feedback to a prototype they unveiled at the NEC. The new model will feature a set of hard panniers, mounting frame and adjustable flip-up screen, all adding a plus of $472 to the base MSRP of the standard Versys. ABS will be optional and colors available will be Metallic Black, Metallic Gray or Metallic Orange. Sales start at the end of February for $7,879 (ABS-free model) or $8,378 (ABS model). (...)

2009 is a very important year for ‘The Yamaha World Superbike Team' as it now entirely belongs to the Yamaha Motor Europe operations. The new racing livery for 2009 shows the team's new sponsors and ‘war paint' for the new season starting at Phillip Island. The new R1's will be ridden by two riders that need no presentation: Ben Spies gets to ride the bike with the number 19 and Tom Sykes, the one with the number 66. Michael Schumacher was testing team's Holzhauer Honda CBR1000RR at the Cartagena circuit in Spain when he crashed, lost conscience and had to be immediately transported to the Virgen de la Risaca hospital. Apparently, Schumacher suffered a serious hit to the head and multiple neck contusions, but after carefully examining him, Dr. Francisco Martinez decided that Schumacher's state doesn't require internment, only a neck support collar. The English site Performance Bikes has created the latest hypothesis – a very accurate one, if you allow – regarding the 2010 Triumph Daytona 1050. Basing on the fact that Triumph will use the three-cylinder engine currently powering the Speed Triple and Tiger models, they designed basically a sharper Daytona 650 on steroids. According to a video created by people with a well developed sense of observation, the all-new BMW S1000RR clearly resembles the 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6. They based this comparison on the recently released first picture of the German bike and side view shot of the Japanese one and we must face the facts. “Several” elements such as the swingarm , heel guard, seat, tail, passenger pegs, fuel tank, windscreen, upper side fairing and front cowling are very similar. All riders are very happy about their new bikes, especially if they had it custom made, but designing it yourself and ending up being the winner of your very own creation is indeed something else. Harley-Davidson has announced the winner of their “Build It and Win It” contest and made one lucky women extremely happy.
